When it came time for Amelia’s cake smash we knew it needed to be outdoor since her newborn session was outdoors as well! In the same private location, we staged a garden tea party theme and a boho themed cake smash! We used Hydrangea which we had used for her newborn session and momma got in a shot just like her newborn photos! The boho theme was so fun to style! We decided on dreamcatchers and feathers and a naked iced cake by Flour Blossom Bakery. Amelia decided that cake wasn’t for her, but we didn’t mind since she gave us so many amazing photo opportunities beforehand. Take a look at her first birthday photos and cake smash session below!

Why you need to have a professional newborn session…

You need to have a professional newborn session so you can have a beautiful gallery to cover your walls with, make birth announcements with, give your children self esteem by knowing they are important enough to be displayed throughout your home with, and of course so you can remember the fleeting moments of how tiny your little baby was when they were born!

This was a super sweet session in my studio, located in Greenlawn, Long Island. Big brother was amazing with his new sister. That smile is everything. We got a nice hanging pose for mom and a lot of purple, of course! Enjoy some photos from the session below.

The most amazing part of this job is watching my clients families grow. The little guy is the third boy for this beautiful family whom I love to photograph. Just last year we had done their second son’s cake smash! We had to grab one quick shot of all of the boys together before they went home with daddy and we focused on the newest little boy! Sharing some sweet shots from his session below.

*Remember to book your newborn sessions early so you don’t miss out on these special photos! Around the 20th week of pregnancy is a great time to book.

Newborn photography | Huntington Long Island

I am back at it today! I only have like another 200 sessions to blog! This is one of my recent favorites. She was such a sweet little baby to pose. She did wake up for the parent posing portion of her session, but we made it work. We even captured a smile when momma went to kiss her teeny, tiny toes!

*Remember to book your newborn sessions as far in advance as possible. After your 20 week anatomy scan is a great time or even sooner. I do book up quickly and hate to have to turn anyone away. I love to pose newborns and I don’t want to miss out on yours!

So it’s been two years since I have blogged. It is only appropriate that I start blogging again with the very family I left off with! Last blog, Aviana had just been born! Now we just had her 2nd birthday session! We always have so much fun styling her sessions. This one was no exception. A dreamy unicorn themed birthday session, what more could an adorable little 2 year old want?! I love the gold and blush soft tones of her photo session. These photos are made for a wall in momma’s home for sure!

When I met this amazing couple during their maternity shoot, I just knew their baby girl would be as sweet as them… and you know what? She so is!! I was so excited for this session. After doing the maternity session at the beach (in freezing cold temps) I knew mom would want beach elements in the newborn session as well. Mom loves the beach and all things pink! We have a lot in common 🙂 Here is little Aviana at 3 weeks old. Check out her amazing nursery too!

First Birthday photography in Long Island, NY

I was so excited when little R came to the studio for her first birthday photos! I had done her newborn session and couldn’t believe it had been a whole year since then. Already a walker, little R did not want to stay on set! We were able to keep her still for just a few moments with a vintage doll cradle, where go got some very sweet shots of her! Part of the session was reserved for some very special portraits of R’s big sister. These photos are taken by each of the family members when they are 3 years old in a special navy uniform! Now this cutie’s photo can join the tradition!

Newborn session in East Northport, Long Island!

This wonderful family came to my studio in East Northport, NY, two weeks ago. They came with their 7 day old baby girl and their adorable son. The session was filled with inspiration. Mom brought along hair clips that had adorned her hair on her wedding day. Of course we decided to adorn baby with them too! It’s such a sweet and sentimental photo. I also took a ton of macro photos as I am obsessed with baby parts! I love getting shots of baby eyelashes and baby lips, fingers and toes! Mom also brought a special hat made by her good friend at Double The Stitches. The hat was a girly replica of her son’s newborn session hat. Big brother B is so in love with his little sister. You could see how much he adores her from the photos! We got a great one of him leaning in to kiss her :melt: I always love when Mom wants to be in the newborn session. Mom is usually so sleep deprived and not feeling her best for photos, but when she has them to look back on later she is always happy she was in them! This Mom didn’t need any convincing and I think she looks gorgeous! Valentine’s photo session play date in Long Island, NY

We had a great time at the play date photo session here at Michelle Behr Photography! It was a Valentine’s Day theme and it was ridiculously fun! I have been wanting to offer a session like this for a long time and have decided to go ahead and offer just ONE of these a month! The new Playdate Photo Session can be on location or in my studio located in the Town of Huntington! I want to remember everything about my kids’ childhood and I’m sure you may feel the same way. Well, their friends are part of that! This is a way to get amazing photos of your kids candidly playing with their friends and posed shots as well! Belly painting art! A very cool way to celebrate the maternity belly!

A few days ago I had the opportunity to watch this gorgeous momma get her belly painted as beautiful artwork. The painting was done by Karen of Flying Colors Face and Body Art, located in Long Island. I watched as her belly was transformed into a total work of art! I could not help thinking that I wished this was something that I had done when I was pregnant. I also thought what a great idea to add to a maternity photo session! Art within art! Any mom that is having her belly painted would want to have beautiful photos of it to look back on as well.
